Running fix

Take a bearing of a mark, sail on and take another. The first position line is transferred by the course and distance made good over the ground — where it crosses the new position line is your position.

How to do it

Tap Start running fix and enter your compass course steered (CC), speed, leeway and current.
Click the mark on the map — a known seamark automatically gives name and position.
Enter the bearing in degrees, whether it is °C (compass) or °T (radar), and the time.
After 2 bearings your position is shown here — with the full calculation.

📚 Examples

The bearing tool is also available on the chart (the Bearing button in the Route tab), where the compass course can be taken directly from a leg of your route. Log in to save your bearings under Bearings.
